praying for a humble heart to see the great miracle of baby steps
sometimes God is silent
and we are indignant because we feel
we are too important to be ignored by God
sometimes other people discourage us
but the psalmist reminds us
'many are they who rise up against me,
many are they who say of me,
"there is no helop for him in God."
but you, O Lord, are a shield for me,
my glory and the one who lifts up my head
i cried to the Lord with my voice,
and He heard me from His holy hill'
[Psalm 2:1]
sometimes we think that we are great
sometimes we think that we are small
God wants us to know
that we are equal in His sight
and that we just need to keep asking
even though we are all unworthy
even though we have all sinned and fall short of his glory
faith is not denying reality,
but facing and accepting reality, but still have hope
it is trusting God and his sovereignty through difficulties
it is seeing past circumstances
and believing in the vision that God has given to us
and knowing that God is not dead
but He sees things in a different perspective
that He is concerned less about what happens to us
and more about what is in us
focus our eyes on God, instead of circumstance
ask not for changes in circumstance
but for changes in our heart attitude
so that we might be able to face these challenges and more to come
don't bring small problems to God,
thinking that He will not answer great requests
but don't just see God's work in the great things He does
simply because they are great
for it is tiny grains of sand and dust
that binds the great rocks together
for it is great to be able to walk across mountain tops
but it is even greater to take baby steps
and bless each part of the land personally
being completely dependent on God
and realising that His power is sufficient
doesn't mean doing nothing
on the contrary
it means recognising that through God we can do even greater things
that we have been called to do things beyond our capacity
and that through Him, all He has called us to do can be done.
it takes a humble heart to see God in little things
and it takes a heart of faith to not be overwhelmed by God's greatness
but be amazed, and grateful for His grace and mercy
