the joys of listening to a perfect seven course dinner from appetiser to dessert
ah and the joys of conversing with someone with similar ideas
and the thrill of trying to express the same immortal and sacred idea
the race to translate it into its most elegant physical form
and to work upon the works of the other
information on our fingertips
to be able to make intuitive guesses
to be able to know the significance of what others do
to be able to understand the workings of a motor
to be able to say HA. I knew that would happen, and mean it
that's not enough
so what if we knew something before someone else?
the question now is not what do you know
but so what have you done about it
or what are you going to do about it?
will you let it fall to pieces and rot
or will you be the one to make the knowledge soar
and thus soar together with it?
and there is the appreciation of greatness
shall we merely stuff food into our mouths for the sake of going through the motions?
the truth is eating takes time
and time is of essence
but it's worthwhile to take time to eat
and recognising that there is an occasion for everything
sometimes we like to just much on to something while working on something else
because the focus is on what we work on
and eating is for the sake of power to work
but if and when we eat
one eats
for the sake of being fulfilled
not just full and bursting with disgust and bloated-ness
"Most men pursue pleasure with such breathless haste that they hurry past it"
--Soren Kierkegaarde
we seek pleasure and lament that we never manage to find what we are seeking
when it stares at us straight in the face
for we stare right past it
not just because we are looking too hard or in the wrong places
but because we fear of what it holds
we fear of how we are perceived when we indulge in pleasure
we fear of being misconceived by others
but there is no guilt without reason
and the reason is sometimes not because our desires are carnal
but because we make an outward show of denouncing what we secretly desire...
and seek to satisfy it in its lowest form
rather than its highest purity
because we are afraid of being the man who flies towards the sun
and touches heaven
only to fall down to our death
when we eat our seven course dinner
lets not be aware of how we are expected to feel about what we eat
but simply let the feelings wash over us
let our subjective objectivity not be washed over
by what we ought to feel
but what we really do
and only then
even if we are no connoisseur
at least we can be sure of what we feel
i wake up with a thought
but i cannot verbalize it
i walk through the day with the thought nagging at my mind
and the great joy
is when realization hits
and the thought unleashes itself in its full fledged glory
but to have the thought in the first place
is already beauty in itself
we already touch heaven when we recall a song we have heard and feel its effect
even if we might not be able to describe it in words
like piano fortissimo or arpeggio
or recall the name of the song
for it's more important to remember the tune of the sweetest song
than its name
but not denying that great joy is derived in knowing its name
for it takes on a corporeal existence then
as something we can hold on to in times when the tide seems to be crashing on us
and strength and courage is just nowhere to be seen
