God didn't need us. but we needed to be needed.

the idea that God who is almighty
would need us seems preposterous
and even blasphemous,
in highlighting what God lacks

if God is omniscient,
why did He create angels
knowing that the brightest and greatest of them all
would rebel against him, and fall like a bright star
down into bottomless perdition?
why did He create man
why did He breathe life into us
and not just life, but consciousness and freedom?

God made us morally free
the propensity to do good
the ability to love
for God is love

God grieves when He sees the world
in a state of chaos and disarray
where men despise each other
where immorality grips the land

God sees the potential for each man to do good
He has the power to make people do what He pleases
but God is a gentleman
Power unbridled is reckless

God is always in the now
to see eternity from above
He created the angels
and He created us
to love us
He didn't need to love specifically us
but that was what He chose
to love an unfaithful wife

we run away not because we don't need God
but because we are too full of pride to admit that we need anything
we worship money
because of what it can buy
we don't need money
but we have a dependence,
an addiction on what it represents

the material sustains our physical being
but the abstract is what humanizes us
the intangible ideas of good and evil
we stand on moral ground, and exist in pure feeling
without recognizing that it is where our being is vindicated

God doesn't need us
there is nothing that He needs,
that He cannot provide for Himself

but God is love
He puts us above all else

because love is what we need
we constantly need to be cradled and protected
we need to be suckled
we need, always, to have arms that we can turn to
a shoulder that we can lean on
one thing that we can hold on to
should everything else fall and fade away

no man who feels unneeded, will ever feel worthy
