the greatest flight of freedom
is God obliged to give us proof of his existence?
does that not, thereby, make His sovereignty a colossal joke?
does he force us into a corner
so that we have no choice but to believe in Him?
to believe in God is to take the greatest flight of freedom
to take the leap of faith
putting one's trust in what is unseen
we exercise our freedom of choice
when we choose God despite persecution
i don't need faith to believe what i can see
it doesn't require faith if the evidence is so overwhelming
it becomes imperative for me to believe that something is true
often when evidence is lacking
one thinks of the negative
if i believe in the worst of people
this is faith, albeit perverse faith.
faithlessness is no better than perverse faith
both are symptoms of disillusionment
of the world, of things in the world.
it is a precursor to determinism,
the situational factors that dictate our lives
must we look deep into things
to understand the underlying laws that govern the universe?
must we be grounded in reality
so that we do not exist in weightlessness?
is a choice that we make
our ultimate freedom
or absolute unfreedom?
sometimes people feel the weight of being under duress
being constrained by the lack of freedom in determining the outcomes of our choices
the freedom of choice becomes a burden that we are obliged to bear
we choose to belong to groups
because in herds one feels safe
there is no risk of being seen as a ridiculous individual
to be seen as silly
but in a group, one's sui generis nature as a singularity is lost.
i don't need to exert my individualism
and proclaim how i am different from others
because my existence exerts its weight on my consciousness
and compels to me undeniably aware of my being as an individual with particularities and idiosyncrasies
but even as an individual
like every other existing individual
i need to choose
whether or not i am willing
to takeoff, on this great flight of freedom.
