faith is not blind belief
i believe in a miracle when i believe that something will happen
without knowing why it can and will
i believe that i won't be floating in midair when i awake
i believe that when i turn the doorknob my door will open
i believe that when i look into the mirror i will see a reflection of myself
i believe that when i place my bread in the toaster it will come out warm and crispy
i believe that the water that flows from my tap will not burn through my skin
i believe that when i press a little switch the light will be turned on
i believe in a hundred and one miracles before breakfast
maybe more.


i don't understand the mechanism by which these things works
but i just trust that they will somehow

and nobody will tell me that this is blind belief
maybe because by habit we know that these things happen

yet faith is the same.
perhaps it's intangible, unseen
like the wirings of a lift
God takes me to places

if i don't believe that the lift can take me from level 1 to level 13
i'm just going to have to spend forever climbing 13 stories.

i can't fly to paris unless i believe in the workings of aircrafts.

and there are many more places i would never have been able to go
if i didn't believe in the power of the Holy Spirit.
