choices: either a ghost or a zombie?

not to live life to the full
to regard the mind and body as a dualism
to choose either one or the other
is to embark on the choice
between being a ghost or a zombie

a ghost is a soul without a body
a zombie is a body without a soul
this is the half-a-life great men before us have proposed

but man is neither solely a mind nor a body
but something much more
there is no schism between the two in that they are inseparable
though one can consider them to be different

for a man to be a man
the mind and the body cannot have a causal relationship
to assume so is to think that one can exist apart from the other.
they cannot.
in this case, decartes cannot be right
the essence of man is not in his rationality
we cannot look for man in his mind alone
we must seek him in the relationship between his mind and his body

to live
to live to the full is not to look at God alone from an ivory tower
neither is it to concentrate fully on the will of man.
the essence of life is found in the relationship between man and God.
